1st XI Crowned BUCS Team of the Year
Edinburgh University Men’s Hockey Club is proud to announce that our 1st XI have been named BUCS Team of the Year for the 2024/25 season — a prestigious recognition of a historic campaign.
This award celebrates competitive excellence across over 6,000 student teams in the UK. The 1st XI stood out nationally after completing an unbeaten season in BUCS North Premier, securing promotion to the BUCS Premier National League for the first time in club history. Alongside that, they lifted the BUCS National Vase and won the Scottish Cup, becoming the first men’s university side to do so.
Led by Head Coach Neil Allan and captained by Declan Bradley, the squad combined relentless drive on the pitch with a deep sense of camaraderie and commitment off it. The team also boasted five Scotland senior internationals and broke new ground as representatives of university hockey at the highest level.
Winning this national award not only recognises the success of the 1st XI but also marks a major moment in the history of EUMHC. It reflects the ambition and growth of the entire club, from 1s to 7s, and the passionate student culture that powers it.
