Message From the President Ahead of the EHL

The club could not be more proud of this talented group. Their desire to compete at the highest level is to be admired, and they serve as strong role models within our club. On the pitch, they will be playing in the EHL for the first time in the club's history, and are the only university team to compete in the EHL since Loughborough in 2007! I know the entire club is rallying behind them, and I am sure the hard work will pay off.

This year also marks a special year for the club, being the 125th anniversary. It is the perfect way to show how far the club has come. From a vote to form a single team in 1901 to now the best-performing club at the university hosting 140 active members - this places us on the perfect trajectory for the future.

I pass on my personal thanks and the club's appreciation for making this a possibility:

Firstly, to Neil Allan, who joined EUMHC for the 24/25 season. His impact was instantaneous - coaching the team to promotion back into the BUCS Premiership and a Scottish Cup victory, for the first time in the club's history. Last season (25/26), the squad went one step further, winning the Scottish Premiership and the grand finals weekend. Reports of his impact should not, however, be confined to the 1st team's success, but should recognise  his interest in the whole club. He helped restructure it with 24/25 President Freddie Kelly-Greaves to bring in higher quality coaching, revolutionising our programme to help us compete at the highest level .

Also I pass the club's gratitude to: Mark Munro and Edinburgh University Performance Sport Programme; the continued support from physio to team psyche and financial backing has augmented this team. 

Pete Fowlie and the Veterinary (check) team, who's generous donation paid for our special edition white EHL playing kit and goalkeeping coaching. As an alumni we are so thankful for his time playing in the club and glad the squad from X has stayed together playing. It is my hope this current team will stay playing hockey together for many years to come..

Finally, to the entire EUMHC committee this year and over the years, who have supported the club and helped build the platform this squad is now competing on.. None of this happens without the hours you all put in behind the scenes.
