OUR TEAMS

We have the largest men’s university hockey club in the United Kingdom with 190+ members spread over 7 competitive teams, over double the size of all other men’s university hockey clubs in Scotland. Our large club size means we can cater for all abilities of hockey, whether you’ve played at an international level, or never picked up a stick, and allows us to gain a much greater level of fluidity and player transitions between teams, promoting a highly competitive environment.

Keir Robb

For the 2023-24 season, the first team will compete in both the Scottish Premiership and the BUCS North 1A. Building on last year's success of winning the BUCS vase and securing 3rd place in the Scottish Premiership, the team has strengthened across all positions. The addition of some quality freshers, with both premiership and international experience, as well as 2 goalkeepers involved with Great Britain EDP, it puts us in a strong position. With coaching from Scottish international Hamish Imrie as head coach it’s an exciting time to be apart of the team

The 2s this year will be competing in a number of competitions including Scottish regional 1, Scottish district cup, Scottish BUCS 1 and the BUCS national trophy. After confidently winning our bucs league last year and finishing second to an unbeaten Hillhead side in the Scottish league, the 2s are looking to push on and win as much silverware as possible. Despite losing multiple players, we are excited by the incoming talent and are eager to gel as a squad. This will be Ewan Mackie’s second year with the 2s as a player-coach so we are looking confident we can further develop under his leadership. #thequadrupleison!

Louis Vanlint

This year we will be playing in men’s regional league 2 and men’s Scottish tier 2. Really looking forward to this season, we’ve got a very strong side with some serious talent and a positive attitude towards the upcoming year. Safe to say the 3s are on the hunt for the quadruple. Silverware awaits. #3forthe3s.

The 4s is where hockey starts to become serious, whilst also having the best socials in the club. Every social is unique, so we never get bored. On the hockey side we are in Regional 2 for the Saturday league, playing some of the premiership 2nd teams, as well as our 3rd team. It is a challenging but fun level to play. On Wednesday we play in the Bucs Division 3 Scotland, we are working hard to get promoted so we can play some of the stronger Unis 1st teams, such as Aberdeen.

5s

Sebastian Garnett

The 5s is nestled nicely in the middle of the club, and strong performances last year meant we ended up finishing above the 4s in the Scottish Tier 3 BUCS league. We also continue to compete in our Saturday league, meaning that with 2 games a week there’s enough for all to get involved.

6s

Sam Bakhshalian

The sixes are in the Scottish Hockey East District 2, and BUCS Scotland 4. We are going to be graced by the present of a player-manager Stuart Head. While we have lost some senior players over the summer, the squad is ready to challenge for high table finishes in the leagues and a deep run in the cup. An exciting season ahead and we are ready for the step up!

”The Sevens are playing in Scotland East District 3, and BUCS Scotland Tier 4 in the 2023/23 season. Despite being the entry level team in the club for new and social players alike, we still maintain a competitive level of hockey, and an even better social commitment. Magnificently coached by the 2s pair of Flo Garland-hoff and Ali Heading, we're aiming for good league results, a run in the Cup, and the huge derby win against the Sixes.”
