Facebook Page 2010/11
Welcome to EUWHC 2010-2011. We are the largest club in the university and we offer a great opportunity to meet loads of new people whilst playing hockey. This is not only aimed at freshers, but to all existing members too!

Social Calendar 2010-2011

As well as our weekly Saturday (Koko-Potterow) There will be many social events arranged by Lauren Walker, Will O'Brian and Rob Hill (Social Secs)which will keep you entertained throughout the year.

The dates and timing of the socials will all be made available on facebook and on the 'News' part of the website. Important dates for this year so far:

  • 6th October - Initiations
  • 20th October - Team Meals
  • 3rd November - Mummies and Daddies
  • 26th November - Team Bonding to the Ruggers
  • 1st December - Christmas Meals

    Club Rules

    • The Club Captain is always right!
    • Freshers are always wrong!
    • Freshers and fellow club members must at all times, obey those in the club superior to them, i.e their elders [especially when having a bevy!]
    • Man of the match and dick of the day should be selected after every match. They both must race each other to finish their pint, and the dick of the day must wear the team selected item of clothing for the next match.
    • Fancy Dress nights must be supported wholeheartedly, with fines for lack of effort.
    • Smooching members of the boys/girls club is to be applauded and rewarded!
    • Drinking fines will be decided by the most senior member present. Their decision is final. Any further querying of this decision will result in more fineage.
    • Any committee member not partaking in suitable drunken debauchery should be fined. This behaviour should be pointed out to the club captain who will arrange fineage.
    • International Rules apply at all times during Social events, and any club member double parked shall see away the remainder of one drink.

    Socialising

Believe me, the socializing experience of EUHC is not one to be missed. You’ll make friends for life in the club if you stick around. You’ll also have some of the best experiences of your life. If you’re single, this is the perfect opportunity to meet some delightful (not so delightful) young men and women. And for those taken, it’s a great way to laugh at your mates!

Koko is our new sponsor this year and will be regularly attended by most teams after a match for ''match teas''(cheap grub). Like the Crags was last year, i'm sure it will become our regular pub where we meet before most social events. It’s a great way to calm down after the match and hang out with your team mates and do some crucial 'bonding'. It’s also a great way to meet other members of the club across the eight womens and 7 mens teams. We have quite a lot of drinking games which we like to invariably start after we’ve had a few. And to bring back historic tradition, come around 9pm we’ll all have an epic race to the Student Union: Potterow, many still wearing our sports kit, to carry on with the evenings banter!

Wednesday afternoons/evenings are also big nights for the club. Since the top teams are playing matches, other club members usually come down to support them on our home turf! We will most likely head to Koko afterwards and then on to the venue chosen by the social secs, usually City. Fancy dress is an ongoing theme, so get that wardrobe prepared! Much pullage usually goes on at these social events too, so be prepared! Alcohol can play a large part in our nights out, but if you don’t drink, that’s completely acceptable... the choice is yours!

    Drinking Games

Below is a selection of the clubs finest and classiest drinking games. Punishment for an error in all games is consumption of the designated drinking fine or any form of dare or embarrassing challenge- decided by the most senior member present. The games are guaranteed to get everyone involved and the more players you can find the more difficult, and more fun the game. To find out how to play the games, come along to any of our socials. The only way to learn is the hard way! And remember; ignorance is no excuse.

    • Bunnies
    • F**k Me
    • Name Association
    • Fives
    • Showdown
    • 21s
    • Commandos
    • Fuzzy Duck

    Umpiring

We have to provide umpires for every match, except the 1st teams, so it is really encouraged for everyone to take their umpire badge. The more people we have badged, the less each individual will be asked to actually umpire. It’s a great way to improve your game, meet more people in the club and also get more involved in the sport. Getting the badge isn’t tricky at all, so speak to any of our committee if you’re interested! At the end of the day, if we don’t have umpires, we can’t play matches, and that just isn’t on!

    Tour

Hockey tour is one of the biggest events of the hockey year! The past few years have seen up going in Italy, Spain, Ireland and Holland. Tour is absolutely not to be missed. It’s great fun and a great way to round up your hockey year! More information can be found on the tour page. AND SO, welcome to the EUHC season 2010-2011. We hope that you enjoy your time with us. It looks set to be a great year with success both on and off the pitch. If you have any troubles throughout the season, just chat to your team captain or any committee members. Suggestions for improvement will be welcomed, or if you feel we’re doing something really wrong, please tell us. Let’s hope we have a good season, and don’t ruin ourselves too much.
